Funny how the fancy tools never quite catch everything, right? I’ve seen folks spend a fortune on modeling, only to find a draft sneaking in from a spot nobody expected. Living in the place really does reveal stuff you’d never guess on paper. Sometimes, it’s the old-school tricks that work best.

Totally get what you mean. I’ve seen people use incense sticks or even a wet hand to find drafts—beats some of the pricey gadgets, honestly. Ever tried thermal curtains or just rolling up a towel? Sometimes simple fixes surprise you.

Honestly, I’m not totally sold on thermal curtains yet. Maybe I’m just skeptical, but do they really make a noticeable difference? I’ve tried the towel trick under the door and yeah, it helped a bit. Anyone actually see their heating bill drop with those curtains, or is it more hype than help?

I get where you’re coming from—thermal curtains sounded a bit gimmicky to me at first too. I put them up in our draftiest room last winter though, and I did notice the space felt less chilly, especially near the windows. Not sure if it made a huge dent in the bill, but it definitely improved comfort. Maybe it depends on window quality or how old the building is? Out of curiosity, have you tried any other tricks for drafts besides towels?

Funny you mention other draft fixes—I actually tried that clear plastic film you stick over the windows with a hair dryer. It looked weird at first, but it really helped seal out the cold. Not the prettiest, but for my old windows, it worked better than towels. I also rolled up some foam pipe insulation and wedged it in the window gaps... not fancy, but hey, it did the trick.
