Totally relate to this. It's crazy how much lighting can shift a color's vibe. I once picked out this gorgeous soft gray that looked perfect in-store, but when it hit my living room walls, it turned icy blue in natural daylight—felt like I was living in an igloo, haha. Like you said:

"Learned to always test swatches in different lighting conditions now—morning, afternoon, artificial light at night—before committing."

Have you tried those peel-and-stick paint samples? They're pricier but way easier than painting squares everywhere...saved me some headaches for sure.

Those peel-and-stick samples are a lifesaver—I discovered them after a similar paint disaster. Thought I'd chosen this warm beige for my study, but once sunset hit, it turned into this weird peachy-orange shade...felt like I was inside a creamsicle, lol.

Speaking of visualizing spaces, anyone else tried using augmented reality apps to preview furniture or wall colors? Curious if it helped or just added more confusion...

Yeah, those AR apps can be hit or miss for sure. I gave one a try when I was debating between two sofas, and honestly, it helped me rule out the bigger one—it looked completely oversized once I saw it in the actual room layout. But then again, colors weren't exactly accurate, so I still ended up ordering fabric swatches anyway. Your creamsicle story cracked me up though...

At least you're not alone—paint always seems to have surprises in store, no matter how careful we are.

Haha, creamsicle walls...been there. Paint is sneaky like that, always different once it's actually on the wall. AR is handy for proportions though—saved me from buying a dining table that would've swallowed my room whole. Glad it helped you dodge the oversized sofa bullet!

Yeah, paint swatches are notoriously deceptive. I usually recommend clients paint a decent-sized sample on the wall and live with it through different lighting conditions before committing. Glad the AR saved you from furniture regrets—it's amazing how spatial perception changes once things are actually in place. I've seen so many rooms overwhelmed by furniture that looked perfect in-store. Sounds like you're on the right track now though, good stuff.
