We're finally tackling our outdated bathroom (think 80s pink tiles and weird floral wallpaper, ugh). I'm kinda overwhelmed by all the choices out there. Want something modern but cozy, you know? Maybe some wood accents or plants...but not sure how practical that is with moisture and all. Anyone done a recent bathroom redo and have tips or regrets to share?

Did a similar reno last year—trust me, wood accents can totally work if you pick the right materials. Go for teak or cedar; they're naturally moisture-resistant and hold up surprisingly well. Plants are great too, just stick to humidity-loving ones like pothos or snake plants. Biggest regret? Glossy tiles on the floor...looked amazing at first but turned into a slip hazard nightmare. Matte finishes are your friend here.

Did something similar a couple years ago on a tight budget, and I second the matte tile suggestion 100%. I went with a matte hexagonal tile in a soft grey—it looks great and feels way safer underfoot. One thing I'd add: don't underestimate lighting. Switching out harsh overhead bulbs for warmer LEDs and adding a couple of inexpensive sconces made the bathroom feel way more inviting. Also, for wood accents, I actually found reclaimed cedar planks at a salvage shop for cheap. Sanded them down lightly, sealed with a clear waterproof finish, and they’ve held up beautifully since then. Plants-wise, pothos are practically impossible to kill (trust me, I've tried), but I also had luck with ferns. They love the humidity and add a nice lush vibe without breaking the bank. Good luck with your reno...it's worth the effort!
