SINK FIXTURES DRIVING ME NUTS LATELY
- Totally get it. Thought composite granite was gonna be my “forever sink”... but those spots are relentless.
- Tried the vinegar trick too, but sometimes I just leave it and hope for the best (not ideal).
- Honestly, part of me misses the old porcelain sink from my rental—stains and all, at least it didn’t show every drip.
- Might start embracing the “lived-in” look. Life’s too short to stress over water spots, right?
SINK FIXTURES DRIVING ME NUTS LATELY
I hear you on the composite granite. I installed one in my last build thinking it’d be bulletproof, but those water spots are just stubborn. Here’s what worked for me: after cleaning, I buffed it dry with a microfiber cloth, then rubbed in a tiny bit of mineral oil. It doesn’t last forever, but it helps repel spots for a while. Still, sometimes I just let it go... can’t win every battle with hard water. Funny how the “perfect” sink always has its own quirks.

- Same boat here—thought going with a matte black composite would be low-maintenance, but those chalky streaks show up constantly.
- Tried vinegar and baking soda, but the finish started looking dull. Not sure if I’m cleaning too aggressively or just unlucky with water.
- Microfiber helps, but I’m honestly questioning if stainless would’ve been simpler in the long run.
- At this point, I’m just picking my battles. Some days I care, some days... not so much.

Honestly, I’m starting to think stainless is just easier overall. We went with a “cool” brushed gold faucet and it shows fingerprints and water spots like crazy. Is there even a finish that doesn’t end up looking dirty half the time?
STAINLESS ISN’T PERFECT, BUT…
I feel this. We picked matte black for our kitchen faucet because it looked “sleek” in the showroom, but now every splash and fingerprint is just... there. I’m wiping it down constantly. Stainless seems to hide stuff a bit better, but even that gets water spots if you don’t stay on top of it. Maybe the only truly low-maintenance finish is “perpetually dirty”?
