Sink fixtures driving me nuts lately

At this point I’d rather have something basic that just works, instead of another “smart” tap that needs firmware updates.

Couldn’t agree more. I swapped out a fancy touchless faucet for a plain old lever model last year and haven’t looked back. Sometimes the “innovations” just add more points of failure. It’s not about getting old—it’s about wanting stuff that actually lasts. There’s nothing wrong with preferring reliability over the latest gadgetry.

That’s been my experience too. I tried one of those “smart” faucets and it was more hassle than help—randomly turning on, battery dying at the worst times. Honestly, a solid lever faucet just feels right. There’s a certain peace in knowing you won’t need to troubleshoot your sink after a long day. Not everything needs an app or a sensor... sometimes simple is smarter.

I hear you on the “smart” stuff being more trouble than it’s worth sometimes. I tried to save a few bucks by getting a fancy touchless faucet on sale, thinking it’d be cool and maybe save water. Ended up spending more on batteries and random repairs than I would’ve with a regular one. The thing would just stop working mid-dishwashing, and then I’d have to mess around under the sink. Honestly, I’m starting to think the old-school fixtures are less stressful in the long run... even if they’re not as flashy.

Honestly, I get the appeal of all the bells and whistles, but sometimes simple just works better. I tried a “smart” showerhead once—ended up with cold water and a headache. Sometimes, less tech means more peace of mind... and fewer surprise expenses.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I swapped out a leaky kitchen faucet for one of those touch-activated ones, thinking it’d be a game changer. Ended up with water spraying when my cat brushed against it and the batteries dying at the worst times. Sometimes I wonder if we’re just making things harder for ourselves. There’s something to be said for a good old-fashioned handle that just… works.
