Couldn’t agree more about the touchless faucet headaches. I tried one in my kitchen, thinking it’d be a smart upgrade, but honestly, the random activations drove me nuts. Ended up swapping it for a manual with a low-flow aerator—cheaper, less hassle, and still saves water. Sometimes the simplest solution really is best, especially when you’re watching your budget.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I thought I was being clever with a touchless faucet in my new place, but it felt like it had a mind of its own—water on, water off, whenever it wanted. My dog even triggered it once just by walking by. Ended up going back to a regular lever style. Sometimes “high-tech” just means more stuff to break, honestly.

I hear you on the touchless faucet drama. I’ve had my fair share of “smart” fixtures that seem to have a mind of their own—one time, I swear mine was haunted. Here’s what I’ve learned after a few too many upgrades and returns:

Step 1: If you’re set on touchless, check the sensor placement. Some are way too sensitive and pick up anything moving nearby (including pets, or even a sleeve). The ones with sensors underneath the spout tend to be less jumpy than the side-mounted ones.

Step 2: Battery life matters more than you’d think. If it’s running low, the faucet gets weird—random bursts of water, delayed shutoff, you name it.

Step 3: If you want reliability above all else, stick with a solid lever or cross-handle. They just work. Plus, there’s something satisfying about that click when you turn them off.

Honestly, sometimes “luxury” is just having stuff that works every time you use it... not having to wave your hands around like you’re casting a spell just to wash an apple.

You nailed it with the “casting a spell” bit—my kitchen looked like a magic show for weeks after I installed one of those fancy touchless faucets. I get the appeal, but honestly, nothing beats a good old lever. Less to break, less to troubleshoot, and you don’t need a degree in wizardry to get a glass of water. I’ve swapped out more “smart” fixtures than I care to admit, and every time I go back to basics, my blood pressure drops. Sometimes simple is just... better.

I hear you on the “smart” fixtures. I tried one of those motion sensor faucets thinking it’d save water and hassle, but it just kept turning on when I didn’t want it to. Ended up wasting more time (and money) than with a regular handle. Has anyone found a touchless model that actually works reliably, or is it just not worth the extra cost?
