I’ve actually seen Dekton chip from a dropped cast iron pan, so while it’s great with heat, it’s not totally bulletproof. Quartzite’s more forgiving if you’re rough in the kitchen, though you still need to seal it. Just something to keep in mind—no material’s perfect.

I hear you on Dekton—people hype it up like it’s indestructible, but I’ve seen a few chips too. It’s wild how something can handle a hot pan straight from the oven but still get dinged by a dropped pot. Honestly, I lean toward quartzite for clients who are a bit more “enthusiastic” in the kitchen. It’s tough, and the natural veining is gorgeous, but yeah, sealing is a must or you’ll end up with stains that just won’t budge.

No countertop is totally worry-free, though. Even granite can crack if you’re unlucky. I always tell folks to think about how they actually use their kitchen—if you’re prone to dropping things (guilty here), maybe steer clear of the ultra-hard but brittle stuff. At the end of the day, it’s about finding what works for your habits and style. And hey, a little imperfection just adds character, right?
