Just put in a new kitchen sink and wondering if anyone else struggled this much

Flexible lines are a game changer, but yeah, I’ve had a couple go bad on me too—usually the cheaper ones. I swear, every time I think I’ve got the “good” brand figured out, something else leaks a year later. The compartment organizers are a great idea in theory, but mine just turns into a junk drawer for plumbing bits. I tried labeling the sections once, but by the third project, everything was mixed up again. It’s a bit like managing a construction site: you organize, you plan, and then the chaos takes over. At least with the lid closed, I can pretend it’s all under control. I’ve started keeping a small stash of the most common fittings in a clear bag, just to save myself from digging through the mess every time. Not perfect, but it keeps me from losing my mind when I’m elbow-deep under a sink.

I hear you on the organizers—mine’s basically a graveyard for old washers and random adapters at this point. I’ve tried the clear bag trick too, but half the time I forget what’s in there. As for flexible lines, I always go mid-range now. The cheapest ones never last, but the “premium” ones don’t seem worth double the price either. It’s a guessing game.

That’s pretty much where I landed too. I spent way too long reading reviews and staring at the wall of options at the hardware store, and in the end, the mid-range seemed like the safest bet. I do wonder if the “premium” ones are just marketing, or if there’s actually a difference in durability. Has anyone actually had one of those last significantly longer?

On the organizer front, I tried labeling the clear bags with painter’s tape and a marker, but then I got lazy and stopped updating them. Now I have bags labeled “misc” and “sink stuff” that are just as confusing as before. Maybe there’s no perfect system for all the random bits that come with plumbing projects.

Putting in the new sink was way more involved than I expected. The instructions made it look simple, but there were so many little things that didn’t quite fit or needed an extra trip to the store. I’m starting to think that’s just part of the process.

I swear, every time I do a kitchen or bath project, I end up with a pile of “mystery hardware” that I’m convinced will be important later… but never is. I tried those little drawer organizers, but then I just forget what’s in each one. As for the premium lines, I’ve used them in a couple client projects, and honestly, I haven’t noticed a huge difference—maybe they just feel a bit sturdier? The mid-range ones seem to hold up fine unless you’re dealing with really high water pressure or something unusual. Did you have to do any countertop adjustments, or did the sink just drop in? That’s usually where I hit a snag.

That’s the part that always trips me up too—especially with stone counters. Did you end up having to notch or shave anything down for a snug fit? I’ve noticed the “drop-in” rarely just drops in, at least in my experience. Also, when you used the mid-range lines, did you notice any difference in the mounting hardware quality, or was it just the feel of the sink itself? Sometimes I wonder if the premium price is mostly about branding.
