Interesting experience with niche insurers, but did you ever worry about their long-term stability? I mean, smaller insurers might be great initially, but what happens if there's a major claim—are they as reliable in paying out? I've considered alternative materials too, but the uncertainty around insurance coverage makes me hesitate. Did you look into their track record or financial backing at all before signing up? Curious how much that played into your decision...

Good points raised here—I actually had a client a while back who used a smaller insurer for a custom build. Initially, everything seemed fine, but when they had water damage from an unusual plumbing issue, the claims process dragged on forever. I guess it comes down to how thoroughly you check their financial health beforehand. Did you find any reliable resources or ratings to evaluate these niche insurers? I'd be curious where people typically look for that info...

I usually start with AM Best ratings—they're pretty thorough and easy enough to navigate. But honestly, sometimes I'll just Google "[insurer name] reviews" and dive into forum rabbit holes...it's amazing what people share online, haha. Have you tried that route yet?

Haha, I've definitely fallen into those rabbit holes myself—it's wild how candid people can be online. Have you found the random reviews helpful enough to actually sway your decision, or do you end up going back to the formal ratings anyway? Sometimes I wonder if I'm just looking for reassurance by reading other people's horror stories... insurance anxiety is real, isn't it?

Honestly, I've found those random reviews way more useful than formal ratings. Last summer, when we were renovating a client's kitchen, I almost went with a company that had stellar official ratings—but stumbled across some random reviewer talking about their nightmare claim process. Decided to dig deeper, and sure enough, similar stories popped up elsewhere. Dodged a bullet there. Formal ratings can be too polished sometimes... I'd rather trust real experiences, even if they feed into my anxiety a bit!
