How do you judge whether those features support the overall design rather than each looking plausible on its own?

For a hypothetical design review, what would you ask the architect to revise before the plans are finalized? I’m particularly curious how dormer placement and overhang depth interact with roof pitch, and whether you’d review the main elevations differently from the roof plan or street-facing view.

Like, some have all these weird little details and arches, and others are just... glass boxes. Is it just about style, or were there other reasons (like tech or money) behind these changes?
I moved into this older brick house last year, and honestly, I never really thought about how much the design would affect my comfort. Turns out, those thick walls keep it way cooler in the summer than my last place (which was all glass and metal, looked cool but felt like an oven). In winter, it’s not as drafty either. I guess there’s a reason people built houses like this around here?

I’m starting to think maybe modern designs don’t always fit the local climate as well as the old ones did. Anyone else notice this? Or maybe I’m just getting old and cranky about energy bills...

They're gorgeous, but honestly, I can't help wondering if they're actually comfy to live in day-to-day. Personally, I lean towards something a bit warmer and cozier, maybe with some wood accents or softer textures. Curious what you guys think - would you rather live in a super minimalist modern place or something more relaxed and cozy?
