Was chatting with my neighbor yesterday about our HOA (yeah, I know, everyone's favorite topic...), and we got into this whole hypothetical thing: what if we ditched the HOA completely and just managed things ourselves as homeowners? Like, imagine no more letters about your grass being two inches too tall or your mailbox color being slightly off. Sounds great, right?
But then again, could we actually handle it? Would we end up with chaos—like Bob down the street painting his house neon green or someone randomly deciding to put up a 12-foot fence around their yard? Or would we naturally find some balance and compromise, maybe even get along better without all the strict rules?
I'm kinda torn on this one. Part of me thinks we'd be fine, maybe even happier without all the micromanaging. But then again, you know how people can be sometimes. Curious what you all think would happen in your neighborhoods if everyone had total freedom to manage their own properties...
