DEALING WITH ITCHY PINK NIGHTMARE IN MY ATTIC

Yeah, I get what you mean about not needing to chase every single gap before tossing in insulation. I did the same—hit the big leaks, then just got the batts down before the cold snap. It wasn’t perfect, but my heating bill still dropped. That said, I swear those can lights are like little wind tunnels... I keep meaning to go back and seal them up, but crawling around in that pink stuff is the worst. Anyone else end up itching for days after?

Man, those can lights are brutal. I tried sealing mine with those foam covers, but getting in there without turning into a human scratch post was impossible. Even with long sleeves, that insulation finds a way. I still find pink fuzz in my laundry sometimes...

- Totally get the "human scratch post" thing. That pink stuff is relentless.
- I used the foam covers too, but honestly, I’m not convinced they seal all that well. Still feel drafts sometimes.

Same here. I wore gloves and taped my sleeves, still ended up itchy for days.
- Has anyone tried those spray foam kits around the cans? Wondering if it’s worth the mess or just another headache.

No kidding. I swear, I could wrap myself in plastic and still end up scratching for days. Tried the spray foam kits once—worked okay for sealing, but cleanup was a pain and the fumes lingered. Not sure I’d bother again unless it’s a really bad draft.

- Completely agree about the insulation—doesn’t matter what you wear, that stuff finds a way to make you miserable. I’ve had it sneak up my sleeves, down my collar, even through what I thought were sealed gloves.

- Spray foam’s a mixed bag. It seals drafts better than anything else I’ve tried, but yeah, the fumes are brutal and it’s a nightmare if you get it on your skin or tools. I’ve had to toss a pair of work pants after one job because I couldn’t get the stuff off.

- Honestly, I still lean toward batt insulation for most attics, even with the itch factor. At least you can move it around if you need to get to wiring or pipes later. Spray foam’s more of a “no turning back” solution.

- One trick I’ve picked up: baby powder on your arms and neck before you suit up. Doesn’t stop everything, but it helps a bit with the itching.

- End of the day, there’s no perfect answer. Just gotta pick your poison and hope you don’t spend the next week scratching.
