"Did you notice any difference in noise reduction after switching?"

Honestly, I went with foam thinking it'd be a total sound barrier, but the difference wasn't huge... noticeable, yeah, but not night-and-day. If quiet's your main goal, might wanna look into adding some acoustic panels or drywall layers instead.

Good points there—foam insulation can be a bit misleading when it comes to noise. It helps, sure, but it's not magic. Acoustic panels or drywall layers are definitely solid suggestions. Another thing I've seen work pretty well is sealing up any small gaps or cracks around vents and windows. Sometimes those tiny openings let in more noise than you'd think... Anyway, sounds like you're on the right track!

True, acoustic panels can help, but honestly, I've found that adding mass is usually the most effective route. Had a client once who tried everything—foam, panels, sealing gaps—but the real game changer ended up being a layer of mass-loaded vinyl behind the drywall. Bit pricier upfront, sure, but it knocked down noise way better than anything else we tried. Just something to consider if you're serious about quieting things down...

I'd agree that mass-loaded vinyl can make a noticeable difference, especially if you're dealing with more stubborn sound issues. Acoustic panels are fine for echo reduction and minor noise, but they're not really built to handle serious soundproofing. Had a similar experience myself—tried panels first, but eventually had to bite the bullet and add extra drywall layers with Green Glue compound. Not cheap either, but it definitely did the trick better than just panels alone...

Yeah, Green Glue and drywall can definitely help, especially if you're dealing with stubborn noise. But honestly, before going all-in on heavy-duty solutions, I'd suggest checking your attic insulation first. Sometimes just sealing gaps and upgrading to eco-friendly insulation (like cellulose or recycled denim) can make a surprising difference. Plus, it's healthier and less itchy than that pink fiberglass nightmare you've got up there...
