"After that, I switched to Tyvek as well, and honestly, it was like night and day."
Tyvek's great stuff for sure, but have you considered just going with a blown-in cellulose insulation instead? I had similar itchy nightmares with fiberglass batting years ago and finally bit the bullet on cellulose. It's eco-friendly, easier on the skin, and surprisingly affordable compared to Tyvek setups. Just curious if anyone else found cellulose insulation a better long-term solution...

Tyvek's awesome for moisture barriers, but for insulation itself, cellulose really shines. Did it in my last reno and no regrets—no more itchy arms or fiberglass dust everywhere. Plus, it's quieter...bonus points for muffling street noise!
Totally agree about cellulose being a lifesaver. Just finished our custom build and went with blown-in cellulose after hearing horror stories about fiberglass itchiness. Honestly, best decision ever—no itchy mess, and the house feels noticeably quieter too. Tyvek's great for moisture, but insulation-wise, cellulose really made the difference for us. Glad to hear it worked out well for you too...makes me feel even better about our choice.
Great to hear cellulose worked out so well for you. We're currently weighing our options for attic insulation, and fiberglass was initially on the table because of budget constraints. But honestly, after reading everyone's experiences here, I'm reconsidering. The itchiness alone sounds like a nightmare I'd rather avoid, and the noise reduction you mentioned is definitely appealing.
Did you find the cost difference between fiberglass and cellulose significant enough to impact your overall budget? I've heard cellulose can sometimes be pricier upfront but might save money in the long run with better energy efficiency. Curious if anyone else has insights on balancing initial costs versus long-term savings...

Honestly, cellulose isn't always the clear winner. I went with spray foam insulation in my attic—yes, pricier upfront, but the comfort and energy savings have been noticeable. Zero itchiness, excellent noise reduction, and my HVAC runs way less often. Sometimes spending a bit more initially pays off quicker than you'd think...just something else to consider before you commit.
