- Had similar issues with injection molding—small miscalculations cost me big time.
- Considering resin casting next, but worried about durability long-term...
- Anyone have experience with resin parts holding up under daily use?

Totally get your hesitation, but honestly, resin can surprise you. I've had custom resin handles on kitchen cabinets for over two years now—daily use, kids tugging at them—and they're still solid. Just pick quality resin and cure properly... durability won't disappoint.

I was pretty nervous about resin durability too when I first started messing around with it. But honestly, it's held up way better than I expected. I made some custom drawer pulls for my bathroom vanity about a year ago—nothing fancy, just basic molds and decent-quality resin. They've been through humidity, constant pulling, and even my clumsy self bumping into them occasionally... still going strong.

The key is really in the prep and curing stages. Make sure you measure your resin carefully (trust me, eyeballing it doesn't end well), mix thoroughly but gently to avoid bubbles, and let it cure fully before handling or installing. If you're worried about scratches or scuffs over time, you can always buff them out with some fine-grit sandpaper and polish.

Injection molding might be more durable for mass-produced stuff, but for custom pieces at home, resin casting is surprisingly reliable if you're patient with the process. Give it a shot—you might surprise yourself!

Glad you mentioned the humidity thing, that's exactly what had me worried. I've been thinking about making some resin handles for my kitchen cabinets (the store-bought ones are crazy expensive), but wasn't sure they'd survive daily use and moisture. Good to know yours held up fine. Maybe I'll just start small with a test piece or two and see how it goes... worst case, I'm only out a few bucks, right?

Yeah, starting small with a test piece is definitely the way to go. I've done similar resin projects in kitchens and bathrooms, and honestly, as long as you use a quality epoxy resin (something marine-grade or at least moisture-resistant), you'll be fine. Injection molding's great if you're mass-producing identical pieces, but for custom handles, casting gives you way more flexibility. Plus, molds for injection molding aren't cheap or easy to tweak later—casting lets you play around without breaking the bank.
