Builder's timeline keeps shifting—normal or red flag?

Had a builder promise our house would be done in 8 months, but now we’re at month 10 and they’re saying “just a few more weeks” (again). I get that stuff happens—weather, supply chain, whatever—but it’s starting to feel like I’m getting strung along. Is this just how it goes with construction projects, or should I be more worried? Anyone else been through this?

I totally relate to that feeling of watching the schedule slip and wondering if it’s just “normal” or if you’re getting played. For me, the biggest worry is how these shifting timelines might impact the budget—like, are you seeing any extra costs pop up because of delays? I keep hearing horror stories about storage fees or price hikes on materials when things drag out. Curious if anyone’s builder actually ate those costs, or if it all trickles down to the client in the end...
