Finally upgraded my living room lights—anyone else tried smart bulbs?

I've messed around with a few brands, and honestly, pricier bulbs don't always reconnect faster. Had some expensive ones that took forever after a router reset, while my cheaper set jumped right back online. Seems hit or miss to me...

Totally agree, pricier doesn't always mean better connection. Couple things I've noticed from my own setup:

- Bulbs using Zigbee or Thread protocols seem way more reliable reconnecting than Wi-Fi ones.
- Firmware updates matter a lot—had a cheap set that was awful until they pushed an update, now they're rock solid.
- Router placement and signal strength can make even expensive bulbs act flaky.

Honestly, it's trial and error...but once you find the right combo, smart bulbs are pretty awesome.

Interesting points, but I'm not totally convinced about Zigbee bulbs being that much better. I picked up a few Zigbee bulbs thinking they'd solve my connection headaches, but honestly, they've been just as finicky as my Wi-Fi ones. Maybe it's my hub placement or something? Firmware updates definitely helped, though. Makes me wonder if it's less about the protocol and more about how well the manufacturer supports their stuff...

Interesting take—I had a similar experience when I first started integrating smart lighting into my custom builds. Initially, I assumed Zigbee would be a clear upgrade over Wi-Fi, but it wasn't always the case. One project had constant dropouts until we repositioned the hub and added a few repeaters. Honestly, manufacturer support and firmware stability seem just as crucial as the protocol itself. After some trial and error, I've learned to stick with brands known for consistent updates and solid customer support... makes a noticeable difference.

Did you notice any real-world difference in responsiveness between Zigbee and Wi-Fi setups? I've found Wi-Fi bulbs sometimes lag slightly, but maybe it's just my router setup... curious if others see this too.
