I've actually done something pretty similar—switched to standard LEDs with smart plugs and switches. Honestly, it's been a game changer for me. Smart bulbs were cool at first, but replacing them every couple years got pricey fast. Now, if something goes wrong, it's usually just the switch or plug, which is way cheaper to swap out. Plus, regular LEDs seem brighter and more consistent overall. I'd say your hybrid setup is probably the sweet spot between convenience and cost-effectiveness.

I get why you moved away from smart bulbs—I had a similar realization myself. Initially, I decked out my home office with premium smart bulbs thinking it'd boost productivity, mood lighting, all the good stuff. But honestly, after about a year or two, I was annoyed at replacing bulbs that cost way more than standard LEDs. Plus, the inconsistency in brightness and occasional connectivity issues started driving me nuts.

"Plus, regular LEDs seem brighter and more consistent overall."

Exactly this. I switched to a hybrid setup—regular high-quality LEDs combined with smart dimmers and switches—and the difference was night and day. Not only has it been more wallet-friendly long-term, but the lighting feels genuinely superior. I’m convinced that investing in solid fixtures and quality standard bulbs paired with a few smart switches offers the best balance between luxury feel and practicality... at least that's been my experience.

- Had a similar experience myself when I renovated my home office last year.
- Initially went all-in on smart bulbs thinking they'd be convenient, but the connectivity issues drove me up the wall.

This was exactly my conclusion too. Ended up swapping out most of the smart bulbs for standard LEDs and installing dimmer switches instead.
- Honestly, simpler turned out better—less hassle, more reliable lighting overall.

Went through something similar when redoing my living room lighting. Thought the smart bulbs would be sleek and convenient, but honestly, they're more trouble than they're worth. Ended up ditching most of them for standard LEDs with dimmers—way less headache and just as functional. Curious though, anyone tried motion sensor switches for home office setups? Wonder if they're practical or just gimmicky...

Tried motion sensors in my home office a while back—honestly, mixed feelings. They're handy when you're carrying stuff in and out, but annoying if you're sitting still too long and the lights suddenly shut off. Worth experimenting with, though, especially if you find a good deal.
