- I’ve noticed the same thing—filament LEDs are way better than they used to be.
- In my last build, we did all LEDs except for a couple bedside lamps where the client was super picky about warmth.
- Kitchens, yeah, everyone wants bright and crisp, so LEDs work great there.
- I still get folks asking for dimmers in living rooms, but honestly, most just want simple controls, not a whole smart setup.
- Bedrooms are always the wildcard... sometimes you just can’t beat that old-school incandescent vibe for winding down.

I’ve tried to go all-in on LEDs, but honestly, I still keep a few incandescents around—especially for reading nooks and the main bedroom. There’s just something about that mellow glow you can’t quite replicate, even with the best filament LEDs. Maybe it’s nostalgia, or maybe I’m just picky, but I haven’t found a “warm” LED that doesn’t feel a bit artificial after a while. That said, for kitchens and hallways? LEDs all the way. The efficiency is hard to argue with.

I totally get what you mean about the glow—some LEDs just don’t have that cozy vibe, no matter what the box says. Have you tried any of those “smart” bulbs that let you tweak the color temperature? I’m curious if they actually feel warmer or if it’s just marketing.

That’s been my experience too—sometimes the “warm white” label just doesn’t deliver. I’ve played around with a few smart bulbs, and honestly, dialing down the color temp does help a bit, but it’s still not quite like an old-school incandescent. Have you noticed any difference between brands? Some seem way harsher than others, even at the same settings.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same thing—some brands just have this weird, almost clinical light, even when they swear it’s “warm.” I tried a few pricier ones thinking maybe that’d help, but honestly, sometimes it just feels like I’m sitting in a dentist’s office. The only ones that come close for me are the Philips Hue bulbs, but even then, it’s not quite the same as those old incandescent vibes. Maybe I’m just picky...
