I've actually found breathable covers pretty limited for real warmth—mostly just frost protection. If insulation's your goal, burlap or even old blankets layered underneath can make a noticeable difference. Bit more hassle, but beats chasing covers at midnight...

Haha, been there more times than I'd like to admit. Totally agree about breathable covers—good for frost, but pretty thin on actual warmth. I've had decent luck layering old moving blankets underneath cheap tarps. Sure, it's not the prettiest setup, but it works surprisingly well, especially if you anchor them down with bricks or rocks. Plus, repurposing stuff around the house saves some cash, always a bonus in my book...
