You’re not wrong about the trade-off. Low-VOC is great for air quality, but yeah, you lose some of that tough-as-nails finish. I’ve tried a few “premium” low-VOC brands and honestly, they all scuff easier than oil-based. Still, for most homes—especially with kids or pets—I’d take easy touch-ups and no fumes over a perfect glossy finish any day. You made the right call for your situation.
