Been trying to keep track of our home reno budget, and I'm torn between trusting the contractor's own budget breakdown or using one of those DIY budgeting apps. Anyone have experience with either option, pros or cons?

Like, cross-checking the contractor's numbers with a DIY app could give you peace of mind. When we did our kitchen, I caught a couple small discrepancies that way...nothing shady, just honest mistakes. Might be worth the extra effort to avoid surprises later on. Did your contractor seem open to discussing budget details openly?
