I've been working on updating my portfolio lately, and honestly, I'm kinda stuck on deciding where to put most of my energy. Like, websites can look super professional and clean, but social media—Instagram, Pinterest, even TikTok—is so much easier to update and share casually when you finish a new project. Just curious what you guys prefer or find more effective for showing off your work...
Quick poll:
Which do you prefer for showcasing your projects?
- Personal website
- Social media platforms
- Combination of both
- Neither (I have another method—share below!)
I used to put everything on my website, thinking it felt more polished, but honestly... people rarely checked it out unless I specifically sent them there. Now I mostly post quick updates on Instagram—way easier and gets more eyes on my stuff. Maybe a combo's the sweet spot?
You're onto something there with the combo approach. I've noticed the same thing—my website feels professional and detailed, but traffic is pretty limited unless I actively direct people there. Instagram definitely boosts visibility, but I wonder if relying too heavily on social media might dilute the depth of our work presentation? Maybe using social media as a teaser or quick update, then guiding interested viewers to the website for a deeper dive could strike a good balance...
