You nailed it on the envelope details mattering more than the fancy stuff. It's wild how much grief you can save by getting air sealing and vapor barriers right the first time... I’ve seen folks drop serious cash on finishes, then end up with drafty rooms or worse, hidden mold. I do think mineral wool has its uses—sometimes it’s just easier to work with in awkward spots—but yeah, it’s not some miracle product. I’d take a well-sealed, well-insulated house over a designer kitchen any day. Comfort sticks with you way longer than the wow factor.
