DIGGING UP THE BACKYARD: FOUND MORE THAN JUST DIRT
I hear you on the raised beds—honestly, I went that route mainly because the soil in my yard was full of rocks and old bricks. Building a couple of simple wood frames cost less than hauling all that junk out. Plus, I could control the soil mix, which made a difference for the veggies. Not the prettiest setup, but it worked and didn’t break the bank. Sometimes function wins over form, at least for me.
Yeah, I get that—my backyard was basically an archeological dig too. Pulled up half a wheelbarrow of broken glass and weird metal bits before I even got to the actual dirt. Raised beds saved my sanity. Not winning any beauty contests, but the tomatoes don’t care.
