Definitely relate to the built-in regret—had a “forever” bookshelf put in and now it’s just a glorified dust collector. Flexible layouts are a lifesaver, especially when you get the itch to rearrange at midnight. I still feel goofy talking to the TV, but at least with more rugs and curtains, I don’t hear my own voice bouncing back at me. Makes it feel a little less like I’m losing it... just a little.
Definitely get where you’re coming from on the bookshelf regret—fixed features can be a pain when your needs change. I’ve seen so many people wish they’d gone modular instead. Rugs and curtains are underrated for sound, honestly. It’s wild how much echo you get in a bare room. As for talking to the TV, I still feel weird about it too, but hey, if it works... maybe we’re all just adapting to the tech faster than we realize.
I get what you’re saying about echo—when we moved in, the living room was practically a cave until we threw down a couple big rugs and some heavy curtains. Made a world of difference for sound. As for talking to the TV, I still catch myself feeling silly, but it’s actually convenient once you get used to it. Still not sure I’ll ever be totally comfortable with it, though... just feels odd sometimes.

I can relate to that awkwardness—took me ages to stop glancing over my shoulder when I’d ask the TV to pause or rewind. It’s funny, though, how quickly it becomes second nature. I used to feel self-conscious, but now I find myself wishing every device in the house would just listen and respond. Maybe it’s just a matter of time before it feels as normal as flipping a light switch.

Honestly, I still catch myself mumbling commands under my breath so nobody hears me. It’s weird at first, but the convenience wins out—especially when your hands are full or you can’t find the remote (which is most days for me). I figure if it saves me a few steps, who cares if it feels a bit odd? Give it some time, it’ll probably feel less strange.
