My home alarm system is doing this weird thing lately and it's driving me nuts. It randomly goes off at odd hours—like 3 am, you know, just to keep life interesting. At first, I thought maybe it was a sensor issue, so I checked all the doors and windows, cleaned off dust and spiderwebs (found a pretty impressive spider colony behind one sensor, actually—maybe they were plotting something?), but nope, still happening.
Then I figured maybe the batteries were dying or something. Changed them all out, reset the system, and it behaved itself for like two days before going rogue again. I'm running out of ideas here. The control panel doesn't show any obvious error codes or anything, just randomly decides it's time to wake up the whole neighborhood.
It's not super old, maybe 4-5 years tops, so I don't think it's just worn out yet. Could it be interference from something else in the house? We did recently get a new Wi-Fi router, but I can't imagine that would mess with the alarm system...or could it?
Anyway, before I cave and call in a professional (and fork over a bunch of cash), thought I'd check here first. Maybe someone else has had this happen or knows a quick fix I haven't thought of yet. Would really appreciate any tips or pointers—my neighbors would probably appreciate it even more, lol.
