Been thinking about setting up some of those smart cameras and door sensors around the house, you know, the ones you control from your phone. But I’m kinda on the fence. On one hand, seems really convenient and reassuring to check up on things remotely, but then again... do I really want my home security relying on Wi-Fi and apps that can glitch out or get hacked? Quick poll—do you guys trust smart devices for your home security or prefer old-school locks and alarms?
"do I really want my home security relying on Wi-Fi and apps that can glitch out or get hacked?"
Totally get where you're coming from—smart gadgets are tempting, but I've seen friends struggle with connectivity issues and false alarms. Personally, I'd mix both: smart cams for convenience, but solid old-school locks as backup. Best of both worlds without breaking the bank.
Good point on mixing it up—I do something similar. But doesn't adding smart gadgets along with traditional locks kinda defeat the simplicity purpose? Curious if anyone's found a setup that's both convenient and glitch-free...
I get what you mean about simplicity, but honestly, I've found that adding a few smart gadgets actually streamlined things for me. Before, I'd be fumbling with keys in the dark or worrying if I'd remembered to lock up. Now, my smart lock auto-locks after a set time, and I can double-check everything from bed on my phone. Sure, sometimes tech can glitch, but traditional locks jam too... nothing's perfect. Just gotta find that sweet spot between convenience and reliability.
