I hear you on the pen and paper thing—sometimes it really does feel safer. I’ve had Chrome eat my bookmarks twice over the years, and once it even lost a whole session of tabs I’d been keeping open for months. Frustrating doesn’t even cover it.
Have you tried syncing your browser data to an account? It’s not perfect, but I’ve noticed since I started using Firefox Sync, at least if something goes sideways during an update, most stuff comes back once I sign in again. Not sure if that’s an option for you, but it saved my bacon after a laptop crash last year.
Also, just curious—are you clearing cookies or using any privacy extensions? Sometimes those can wipe out session data or saved logins without much warning. It’s wild that browsers still haven’t nailed this down, considering how much folks rely on them to remember things. Guess it’s one more reason to keep that binder handy...
