Totally relate to that mortar struggle—same goes for smart thermostats, honestly. Manufacturer settings are a good baseline, but real-world factors like insulation quality, room layout, or even sunlight hitting sensors can throw things off. Ever had to tweak placement to get accurate readings?

Had a similar issue when I first installed mine. The afternoon sun kept hitting the sensor directly, and the thermostat thought it was way hotter than it actually was. Ended up repositioning it slightly behind a bookshelf—instant improvement. Sometimes a small tweak makes all the difference...

Had a similar weirdness with mine, but it wasn't sunlight—it was my cat. Seriously, she'd curl up right under the thermostat (warm spot, I guess?), and suddenly the house would feel like an igloo because the sensor thought we were roasting. Took me forever to figure out why I was freezing every evening. Ended up moving it higher on the wall—problem solved. Funny how these smart gadgets sometimes get outsmarted by pets and furniture...

Had a client once who swore his thermostat was haunted—kept randomly dropping temps at night. Turns out, his dog had figured out the perfect spot on the couch to block airflow to the sensor. Took us ages to pinpoint it because every time we checked during the day, everything seemed fine. Smart gadgets are great, but sometimes they're a little too sensitive for their own good... Glad you got yours sorted by moving it higher; that's usually my go-to fix as well.

Had a similar issue once—thought my thermostat was glitching, but turns out sunlight hitting the sensor was messing with readings. Ever notice yours acting weird depending on time of day or weather? Seems placement matters more than manufacturers let on...
