If you’re disciplined about setting setback periods (like dropping the temp overnight or when you’re out), you’ll probably see some savings over time. But it’s not going to be dramatic unle...

Totally agree with your take—radiant heat is just a different beast. The lag time really does make those “learning” features kind of pointless. One thing I’d add: if you’re in a well-insulated house, the benefits of smart scheduling get even smaller, since the temp doesn’t swing much anyway. But I do love the zoning aspect. Being able to keep the bedroom cooler and the bathroom toasty? That’s a win for comfort, even if it’s not a huge energy saver.

I get where you’re coming from, but I actually think smart thermostats can still shine in well-insulated homes—just in a different way. It’s less about wild swings in temperature and more about fine-tuning comfort and, honestly, just the sheer convenience. I’ve got radiant floors in my place, too, and yeah, the lag’s real. But I’ve found that even small tweaks—like nudging the bathroom up a degree before my morning shower—make a difference in daily routine, even if the energy savings aren’t massive.

Also, there’s something to be said for the “set it and forget it” aspect. I travel a lot, so being able to check in remotely and make sure everything’s running as it should? That peace of mind is worth it for me, even if it’s not saving me a fortune. Maybe not for everyone, but I’d say there’s more to it than just the numbers.

I hear you on the radiant floor lag—timing is everything with those. I’ve noticed the same thing in my build, especially in winter. The remote access is a game changer, though. I’m still not convinced the energy savings are huge in a tight house, but being able to tweak things from my phone when I’m away is just plain handy. Sometimes it’s not about the money, it’s about not coming home to a cold bathroom floor... which, honestly, is priceless after a long trip.

Honestly, I’m with you—remote access is the real MVP. I used to think the “smart” part was just a gimmick, but after coming back from a ski trip to a toasty bathroom, I was sold. Energy savings? Meh, maybe not huge, but comfort’s worth it.

Totally get the comfort angle, but I’m still a little hung up on the “energy savings” part. Maybe I’m just cheap, but I keep checking the app for proof my bill’s going down... Jury’s still out. The remote access is slick, though—no more running downstairs in socks to change the temp.
