I hear you on the presets being hit-or-miss. Honestly, most smart thermostats come with pretty generic defaults that rarely match your actual lifestyle or local climate perfectly. If you're finding yourself constantly tweaking, here's what I'd suggest:

First, spend a few days noting down your actual comfort preferences at different times of day—morning, afternoon, evening, bedtime. Then, go into the app and manually adjust each preset to match those notes closely. Don't just rely on the thermostat's "learning" feature alone; it helps, but it's not magic.

Second, set up separate presets for weekdays and weekends if your schedule varies significantly. This alone can cut down on constant fiddling.

Finally, accept that you'll still occasionally need manual adjustments—especially during seasonal transitions or unexpected weather swings. But overall, once you've customized thoroughly, you'll find yourself messing with it way less often. At least that's been my experience...and trust me, I'm picky too.

Couldn't agree more with this. When I first got mine, I expected it to just "figure me out," but quickly realized manual tweaks were inevitable. Still, once dialed in, the savings do add up nicely...

Same here. When I first installed mine, I thought it'd magically adapt to our family's routine, but honestly, it took a good month of tweaking before it felt right. The learning feature is helpful, sure, but it's not exactly psychic. Still, once you get past the initial setup hassle, it does pay off—our energy bills dropped noticeably after about two billing cycles. Worth the hype? Maybe not entirely...but definitely more than just a fancy gadget.

Interesting take, but I'm still not convinced the energy savings are all that significant for everyone. I installed one about six months ago, and honestly, our bills haven't changed much at all. Maybe it's because we already had a pretty efficient schedule set manually? Or perhaps it's more useful in climates with bigger temperature swings? Not knocking the tech itself—just wondering if the benefits might be a bit overstated for some households...

If you've already optimized your manual settings, you probably won't notice huge savings. Smart thermostats really shine for those who previously had inconsistent schedules or forgot adjustments. For already efficient households...it's mostly convenience and aesthetics.
