True, but I've seen inspectors push back pretty hard when it comes to fire exits and accessibility—even in historic buildings. Preservation's important, but sometimes practicality wins out... especially if the building sees regular public use.
Yeah, that's a fair point. I remember this old theater downtown—beautiful place, ornate ceilings, the works—but the fire exits were basically glorified closets. For years, inspectors seemed to shrug it off because, you know, history. But as soon as the place started hosting more frequent community events, suddenly accessibility ramps and proper exits became non-negotiable. Preservation's great and all, but practicality usually catches up sooner or later... especially when safety's involved.
