Honestly, I’ve tried a bunch of those “all-in-one” platforms and half the time I end up back in Google Sheets anyway. For smaller projects, breaking things down by room in a simple spreadsheet works just fine. If you want to get a bit more granular, I’ll sometimes add a column for each phase—demo, install, finish—so nothing slips through the cracks. The fancier tools are great for big renovations, but for a bathroom refresh or something, they’re usually more hassle than help.

I get what you mean—sometimes those platforms feel like overkill, especially for smaller stuff. I’ve had similar luck with spreadsheets, but I do wonder if I’m missing out on something that could save me time in the long run. Have you ever tried any of those cost estimator sites, like Homewyse or RSMeans? I’ve poked around a bit, but not sure how accurate they really are for local pricing.
