Metal roofs are decent, but honestly, they're not always as quiet as people claim. Had one on my last place—rain wasn't too bad, but hailstorms sounded like a drum solo. Still, durability-wise, can't argue much there...

Had a metal roof installed about five years ago, and honestly, the noise isn't that noticeable if you get decent insulation underneath. We had a hailstorm last spring—barely heard it inside. Maybe it's more about installation quality than the material itself...

Had mine done about eight years ago, and honestly, insulation helps, but when we get heavy rain, I still notice it a bit. Nothing terrible though—kinda relaxing actually. Agree installation matters, but metal roofs aren't totally silent either...

Had a similar experience myself—metal roofs definitely aren't silent, even with good insulation. But you're right, the sound can be oddly soothing. Plus, durability-wise, they're hard to beat. Sounds like you made a solid choice overall.

Totally get what you mean about the soothing part—rain on metal roofs can have that cozy, nostalgic vibe. Still, gotta admit, I'm usually skeptical about metal roofing because of the noise factor. Had a neighbor who swore by his metal roof, but every heavy storm, he'd joke about needing earplugs. But durability-wise, you're spot on. Metal roofs hold up impressively well in harsh weather, and they're great for sustainability too—especially if you pick one with recycled content or reflective coatings. Even though I lean toward quieter materials myself, sounds like you've considered your priorities carefully and made a thoughtful decision. Good call overall.
