My dad's mobility isn't what it used to be, and we're trying to make the shower easier for him. Remodeling isn't an option right now, so I've been looking into temporary solutions. I got one of those portable threshold ramps, added a sturdy shower chair, and installed a handheld showerhead with a long hose. Seems okay so far, but I'm wondering if there's something better or safer I'm missing...anyone tackled this before?
Sounds like you've covered the basics pretty well. One thing I'd suggest is adding some non-slip mats or adhesive strips inside and just outside the shower area—wet floors can get tricky fast. Also, have you thought about grab bars with suction cups? They're temporary, easy to reposition, and surprisingly sturdy if installed correctly. I used them for my mom when she stayed over, and they gave her a lot more confidence. Have you tested how stable your ramp feels when wet?
