"But anything with motors, electronics, or precision parts...I'd be cautious."

Fair point, but honestly, I've had pretty good luck buying used power tools—especially from pawn shops or estate sales. Usually, you can plug them in and test them right there. Maybe Craigslist is riskier since you're relying on someone's word, but if you know what to look for (weird noises, overheating, worn brushes), you can snag some solid deals. Ever tried pawn shops instead?

I've actually had some great finds at pawn shops too. Picked up a used circular saw last year—tested it right there, sounded smooth, and it's still going strong. Craigslist can be hit or miss, but if you're careful and know what to check for, it's usually fine. Plus, buying second-hand aligns nicely with sustainable building practices...less waste, fewer resources used, and you save money. Win-win all around.

Pawn shops are underrated for sure. Got a decent router there last summer—just needed a quick clean-up, and it's been solid since. Craigslist works too, but yeah...gotta trust your gut and check carefully. Sustainable and budget-friendly is always a good combo.

Pawn shops can definitely surprise you sometimes. Ever tried estate sales or auctions for tools and supplies? I've snagged some pretty solid gear that way—like a barely-used compressor last year for half the retail price. Sure, it takes patience and a bit of luck, but isn't that part of the fun? Plus, giving good equipment a second life feels pretty satisfying...and my wallet agrees.

Estate sales have been hit or miss for me, but auctions are underrated. A few tips from my recent experience:
- Research auction houses beforehand—some specialize in tools.
- Set a firm budget; easy to get carried away.
- Factor in buyer premiums and taxes; they add up fast...
