That's a great catch about the early repayment penalties—it's surprising how often lenders slip those clauses in without highlighting them. Makes me wonder, though, if these hidden terms are just oversight or intentionally buried to trip people up. I've always felt transparency should be standard practice, especially when we're talking about something as significant as home financing. Has anyone here ever directly confronted their lender about unclear or hidden clauses? I'd be curious to hear how lenders typically respond when they're called out on this stuff. Seems like pushing back could help set better expectations for everyone involved...

I actually had a similar experience when refinancing last year—noticed some vague wording about fees and asked my lender directly. They clarified pretty quickly, but it did make me wonder...do lenders become more transparent once they realize you're paying close attention?

That's a good question...when I was building my place, I noticed the lender got way clearer after I started asking detailed questions about the construction loan terms. Maybe it's just human nature—they step up their game when they see you're informed?

Had a similar experience myself. When I was dealing with my lender, things felt pretty vague at first—lots of "standard procedure" talk. Once I started digging into specific fees and timelines, their answers suddenly got a lot clearer. I think you're onto something about them stepping up their game when they realize you're paying attention. Might just be human nature, but it definitely pays to ask the right questions early on.

Reminds me of when I was building my first custom home—my lender kept things vague until I casually mentioned another lender's better offer. Suddenly, details flowed like magic... funny how competition sharpens transparency. Definitely worth nudging them a bit.
