Honestly, I’ve tried both—sticky notes and digital boards—and I’m with you on the chaos of physical stuff getting lost or buried. Trello’s not perfect, but at least you can tag folks and set deadlines without chasing people down. Still, sometimes subs ignore notifications or claim they “never saw it.” Ever had to deal with that? Curious if anyone’s found a foolproof way to make sure stuff doesn’t fall through the cracks, especially when folks aren’t super tech-savvy.

Title: Keeping Subs On Track Without Losing Your Mind

- Yeah, I hear you—no system is bulletproof, especially with folks who aren’t glued to their phones.
- I’ve started texting reminders for critical stuff, even though it feels a bit old school. Seems to cut through the noise better than app notifications.
- One thing that helps me: at weekly check-ins, I ask subs to confirm the key tasks they’ve seen. That way, there’s less “I didn’t see it” later.
- It’s a juggling act, honestly. Haven’t found a perfect solution yet, but mixing digital with the occasional direct call or text seems to plug most gaps.

Texting definitely feels a bit retro, but I get why it works. I’ve had subs who’ll ignore every app ping but will respond to a text within minutes—go figure. One time, I even left sticky notes on site for a particularly elusive tile guy… not glamorous, but he got the message. Has anyone tried group chats or something like WhatsApp? I wonder if that’s less likely to get lost in the shuffle than the usual project management apps.

GROUP CHATS VS. OLD-SCHOOL TEXTS

Funny you mention sticky notes—I’ve literally taped a note to a sub’s steering wheel before. Texting does seem to cut through the noise, even if it feels a bit old-fashioned. I’ve tried WhatsApp groups, but honestly, half the guys never check it or mute the chat. Some folks just don’t want another app. At the end of the day, a direct text or even a phone call seems to get the quickest response, at least in my experience. Project management apps are great in theory, but most subs I’ve worked with barely open them. Maybe it’s just the crowd I hire, but I’ve learned not to overthink it.

KEEPING SUBS ON TRACK WITHOUT LOSING YOUR MIND

I hear you on the group chat thing—tried it, and half the time someone’s phone is dead or they’ve muted the thread anyway. I’ve found that a quick call or a direct text just works better, especially if it’s something urgent. Ever tried sending a calendar invite for deadlines? Sometimes that gets ignored too, but at least there’s a record. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if we’re overcomplicating things with all these apps. Just curious—has anyone actually had luck getting subs to use project management software consistently? I feel like it’s always a losing battle.
