I hear you on the digital platform thing—it does make life easier once everyone’s on board. I’ve run into pushback from a few subs who aren’t super tech-savvy, though. Sometimes I wonder if the time spent getting them up to speed is worth it, especially on smaller jobs where margins are tight. Have you found a way to keep costs down when rolling out new software or platforms? I’m always worried about blowing the budget just trying to get everyone synced up. Curious if you’ve had to deal with that, or if your teams were already pretty comfortable with the tech side.

Title: Keeping Subs On Track Without Losing Your Mind

Getting everyone on the same digital page is a beast, especially when you’ve got a few folks who still swear by paper. I get the worry about costs—on smaller jobs, every hour counts. What’s worked for me is picking platforms with really simple mobile interfaces and offering quick, informal training (sometimes just over lunch). It’s not perfect, but most subs get the hang of it faster than I expected. I do think the up-front investment pays off in fewer headaches down the line, but yeah, it can feel like herding cats at first.

That’s been my experience too, though I’ll admit I still keep a binder around just in case. The upfront hassle pays off—less chasing down paperwork later. Even the most tech-resistant guys usually come around after a couple jobs.

That’s been true for me, but I still run into the odd sub who just refuses to use anything digital. I get the appeal of a binder—sometimes old school just works when you’re in the mud. Curious, have you found any tools or apps that actually make things easier for the guys in the field, or is it just a matter of forcing the habit? I’ve tried a few, but not everything sticks.

Honestly, I’ve seen that too. Some guys just want paper, and I get it—nothing beats flipping through a binder when your gloves are caked in dirt. That said, I’ve had decent luck with Fieldwire for punch lists and quick updates. It’s not perfect, but it’s simple enough that even the tech-averse will give it a shot if you walk them through it step by step. Ever tried just having one iPad on site for everyone to share, or does that turn into chaos?
