Yeah, I hear you on the code changes mid-project—had that happen with an electrical upgrade once. Inspector flagged something that wasn’t even in the book when we started. I’ve thought about hiring a code consultant, but honestly, for most of my projects, I just dig through the city site and double-check with the inspector before I get too far. It’s a hassle, but I’d rather deal with the headache up front than get hit with a surprise later. For bigger renos, though, I could see the value in bringing in a pro. Just depends how much risk you’re willing to take on, I guess.
