SINK FIXTURES DRIVING ME NUTS LATELY

Funny, I had the same issue with matte black in a recent project—looked amazing at install, but it’s high maintenance for sure. I’ve been leaning toward brushed nickel for rentals since it seems to hide wear and tear better over time. Out of curiosity, has anyone tried those PVD finishes? Supposedly more durable, but I haven’t seen much real-world feedback. Wondering if they actually hold up better or if it’s just another marketing angle...

Had a client insist on PVD gold for their kitchen—looked stunning, almost like jewelry. Six months in, still no scratches or weird spots, even with kids around. Way less fussy than matte black, at least in my experience.

PVD gold does seem to be holding up better than I expected. I was skeptical at first—honestly, anything “gold” in a kitchen just screams high-maintenance to me. But I put it in my own laundry room as a test run (figured if it survived the chaos there, it’d survive anywhere). After about a year, not a single scratch, and I’m not exactly gentle with it.

Matte black, on the other hand, looked amazing for about three months... then every fingerprint and water spot started showing up like neon signs. Drove me nuts. I’ve heard mixed things about brushed nickel too—some folks swear by it, but mine picked up weird stains that never really came out.

I guess it depends on the brand and how much abuse your fixtures get. But yeah, PVD gold’s been surprisingly low-maintenance for me. Never thought I’d say that.

I get where you’re coming from—matte black looked sharp in my last reno, but the upkeep was a pain. Water spots everywhere, just like you said. PVD gold surprised me too. Didn’t expect it to be so resilient, especially in a high-traffic area. Sometimes the “fancy” finishes end up being the most practical, weirdly enough.

- Honestly, sometimes the “trendy” finishes hold up better than the classics... who knew?
