Just put in a new kitchen sink and wondering if anyone else struggled this much

Sometimes I wonder if all these accessories are just making things more complicated than they need to be.

Couldn’t agree more. Half the time, those “must-have” sink add-ons just end up in a drawer. Undermount install is no joke either—lining it up is always trickier than folks think. If the caulk job holds, call it a win.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I went down the rabbit hole with all those “essential” sink gadgets—colanders, cutting boards, soap dispensers... Now most of them are just cluttering up a cabinet. Honestly, I think half the appeal is just clever marketing.

Undermounts are a pain, too. I tried to save a few bucks by doing it myself and spent way longer than I expected getting it lined up. The caulk was a mess the first go-round, had to redo it after noticing a slow leak. Not sure if it’s just me, but sometimes the more features you add, the more stuff there is to break or clean. At this point, I’d rather have fewer bells and whistles and know everything actually works.

Funny thing—I thought the built-in drying rack would be a game changer, but it’s just another thing to wipe down. Maybe I’m just too practical for all these extras...

Isn’t that always the way? I fell for the “integrated soap dispenser” hype, and now it’s just one more thing to unclog. Do you think any of these extras actually save time, or just look cool in photos?

I know what you mean.

“now it’s just one more thing to unclog”
—that sums up my experience with a fancy pull-out faucet. Looked great, but the hose started sticking after a year, and I ended up using my old sprayer anyway. Some of these “extras” are more about aesthetics than real function. That said, a deep basin sink actually made a difference for me—less splashing, more room. Sometimes simple really is better.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I fell for the “high-tech” faucet hype once too—looked slick, but cleaning out the gunk from the hose was a pain, and it never worked as smoothly as promised. Honestly, I’d rather put my money into a solid, deep sink any day. More space, less mess, and way fewer moving parts to break. Sometimes the simplest setup just lasts longer and saves you headaches (and cash) down the road.
