Confused about insurance stuff for my home renovation
Ran into something similar last year when we added a second story to our place. I figured the contractor's insurance would cover everything, but after chatting with our agent, realized there were some gaps. Turns out, contractor policies often protect their own liability but might not fully cover your property if something goes sideways. We ended up getting a temporary builder's risk policy - wasn't too pricey and definitely eased my mind. Worth double-checking exactly what's covered on both ends...better safe than sorry.
Yeah, ran into the same confusion when we redid our kitchen. Thought contractor's insurance had us covered, but nope - ended up grabbing builder's risk too. Wasn't thrilled about extra costs, but it was cheaper than replacing cabinets outta pocket if something went south...

Yeah, I get your frustration - insurance can feel like a maze sometimes. But good call on picking up builder's risk; better safe than sorry, especially considering how quickly renovation expenses can spiral. Peace of mind is worth something too...
