Funny you mention the big open lawn—I've seen so many folks fall for that trap. On paper, it looks like usable space, but in reality, it just sits there unless you really design for activity or comfort. I always push for breaking up a flat lot with zones—shade, seating, maybe even a little elevation change if possible. Otherwise, it just feels like a field, not a backyard. Plans are great, but living in the space always reveals what actually works.
