I swear, I love hanging out in the yard and having a nice fire going on a chilly evening, but lately my fire pit has been nothing but trouble. Smoke blowing directly into my face no matter where I sit, logs refusing to catch fire even with those fancy starter cubes, and don't even get me started on cleaning out the ashes afterward...ugh. Is it just me having terrible luck or are these things secretly designed to annoy us?
- Honestly, most fire pits I've seen feel like they're designed by someone who's never actually built a fire outdoors. Fancy designs, but zero practicality.
- Smoke blowing your direction usually means airflow issuesβmaybe yours is set too deep or the walls are blocking proper airflow? I had to drill extra holes in mine just to make it usable.
- Also, those starter cubes can be hit or miss. I've had better luck with dryer lint and cardboard scrapsβplus it's free.
- Ash cleanup is always annoying though, no getting around that. I finally got one of those little ash vacuums...not perfect, but beats scooping ashes by hand.
- Curious if anyone's tried those smokeless fire pits that claim to fix all these problems. Are they actually worth the price tag or just another gimmick?
