WHICH IS BETTER FOR CONTROLLING EVERYTHING: VOICE ASSISTANTS OR DEDICATED TOUCH PANELS?
Couldn’t agree more about touch panels being more reliable over time. Voice assistants are cool when they work, but I’ve run into the same problem—suddenly they just stop recognizing commands or a random update breaks something. Plus, sometimes you just want to tap a button instead of repeating yourself three times to get the lights to dim. I’ve also noticed touch panels are less intimidating for visitors—nobody wants to feel silly talking to a box. Voice is fine for quick stuff, but if I’m actually controlling multiple things, give me a screen every time.
Totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve had voice assistants just freeze up or mishear me, especially if there’s background noise or someone else is talking. Touch panels just feel more straightforward—no guessing if the system understood you. I do like voice for quick stuff when my hands are full, but for anything more than that, a screen just makes life easier. Plus, guests never have to ask, “Wait, how do I turn on the fan?”
Totally hear you on the background noise thing—my kitchen gets loud and my voice assistant just gives up half the time. I do like that touch panels are super clear, but honestly, sometimes the price of installing a bunch of them adds up quick. I’ve tried to stick with just one or two for the main spots and use voice for the rest. Not perfect, but it’s worked out okay for my budget. At least guests can always find the panel when they’re confused...
