How picky are you about lighting setup at home?

Just realized I've become weirdly particular about how my rooms are lit, lol. Like, I can't stand harsh overhead lights anymore—makes me feel like I'm in a dentist's office or something. Now I'm all about lamps, dimmers, and warm bulbs everywhere. Curious if it's just me being overly sensitive or if other people have gotten picky too. Quick poll: soft ambient lighting vs bright overhead lights...which do you prefer at home?

Funny you mention that... I actually prefer bright overhead lighting, especially when I'm working on detailed plans or reading blueprints at home. Lamps and dimmers just don't cut it for me—too shadowy and uneven. Guess I'm the odd one out here.

Haha, I'm with you on the bright lights. When I was building my place, I put in these super bright LEDs overhead thinking they'd be perfect for projects. Now my family jokes that our kitchen doubles as an operating room...but hey, no shadows!

Haha, your kitchen sounds like my garage. I went all-in on bright LEDs thinking they'd be perfect for woodworking and car repairs. Now, whenever I flip the switch, my neighbor jokes that I'm signaling aliens. But honestly, do you ever find them a bit harsh for everyday stuff? I've been thinking about adding some softer lighting options for when I'm not knee-deep in projects...

I've been wondering if anyone else finds bright LEDs a bit draining after a while. They're energy-efficient, sure, but does anyone know if there's research on how different lighting affects mood or productivity? I've noticed I feel calmer and more focused with softer, warmer lights, but maybe that's just personal preference. Curious if there's an actual science behind it or if it's mostly subjective...
