Solid brick definitely has its perks, especially durability-wise. But veneer isn't always a disaster—seen it hold up nicely when installed right. Plus, veneer gives you more flexibility with interior design (my personal playground, haha)...trade-offs, I guess?

Totally agree on the flexibility point—brick veneer can really open up creative possibilities, especially when you're aiming for unique interior features or textures. I've seen some beautifully executed veneer installations that you'd swear were solid brick at first glance. Still, there's something undeniably appealing about the authenticity and thermal mass of solid brick walls. They age gracefully too, developing character over time...but yeah, definitely a balancing act between aesthetics, practicality, and budget.

True, solid brick has charm, but ever considered reclaimed wood or stone for that authentic feel? They age beautifully too, and might be easier on your budget and DIY skills... Or is brick an absolute must-have?

Brick definitely has that classic look, but reclaimed wood is underrated imo. We went with reclaimed barn wood for an accent wall in our living room, and honestly, it's the first thing visitors comment on. Plus, it was way easier to install than brick would've been—no mortar mess or worrying about alignment. Brick might be timeless, but if you're open to alternatives, reclaimed materials can add character without the extra headache.

Yeah, reclaimed wood is a hidden gem for sure... but I'm curious, did you treat or seal the wood at all? I've heard mixed things about durability and maintenance, especially compared to brick.
