Anyone else feel awkward talking to their TV?

I've wondered about the mic placement too, but honestly, I think it's more about the software than the hardware. I set up a decent soundbar thinking it would help, but half the time I'm still repeating myself like I'm talking to a stubborn toddler. Maybe it's just me, but voice tech on TVs feels a bit behind compared to phones or smart speakers... anyone else notice that difference?

Totally get what you're saying. I've tried voice commands on my TV exactly twice—both times ended up yelling slowly at it like it was hard of hearing. 😂 Honestly, I think you're right about the software. TVs just aren't getting the same updates or attention as smart speakers and phones. Plus, mic placement is probably secondary when the software can't even understand basic commands half the time. Maybe someday it'll catch up, but until then, I'll stick to buttons... less awkward anyway.

Haha, your story reminds me of the first week after moving into our new place. We got one of those fancy TVs as a housewarming gift from family, and I thought voice commands would be this futuristic, seamless experience. Instead, I ended up awkwardly whisper-shouting at the TV late at night, trying not to wake everyone else up. Pretty sure the neighbors thought I'd lost it. Buttons definitely feel safer and less embarrassing... at least until TVs figure out how to actually listen.

Haha, whisper-shouting at the TV is definitely a relatable image... reminds me of when we first got one of those smart speakers. I spent a solid week awkwardly repeating myself louder and louder, convinced it was ignoring me on purpose. Honestly though, new tech always has its quirks at first. Eventually you’ll both figure each other out, and it'll feel less like you're arguing with an appliance and more like you're finally living in the future. Hang in there—it gets better!

Haha, exactly. Felt the same way when we first installed voice-controlled lighting. Spent days awkwardly repeating myself, feeling like a fool every time the lights ignored me. But once you get past that initial awkwardness, it becomes second nature. You're right—just takes a bit of patience and practice to settle into that futuristic comfort zone.
